In a significant milestone for both MEYER WERFT and Disney Cruise Line, the new cruise ship, Disney Treasure, was officially delivered today. This impressive vessel showcases some of the most advanced and innovative entertainment facilities in the cruise industry. Remarkably, the Disney Treasure was completed ahead of schedule and is set to welcome guests starting in December.
Leadership Remarks
Bernd Eikens, CEO of MEYER WERFT, expressed pride in the successful handover, highlighting the dedication and passion that the team poured into the project. Alongside Bernard Meyer and Thomas Mazloum, president of Disney Signature Experiences, Eikens signed the handover documents, marking the continuation of a fruitful partnership.
Enhancing the Disney Cruise Experience
Mazloum emphasized the significance of the Disney Treasure, stating, “This ship is a testament to how we’re bringing the magic of Disney cruising to more fans than ever before.” He acknowledged the collaborative efforts with MEYER WERFT and looked forward to expanding the Disney Cruise Line fleet.
Unique Features and Experiences
The Disney Treasure promises to offer families a range of imaginative experiences inspired by Disney’s rich storytelling legacy. Notable features include theatrical dining inspired by Pixar’s “Coco,” a Broadway-style adaptation of Disney’s “Moana,” and unique Disney Parks-inspired lounges for adults, including the first Haunted Mansion-themed bar.
Continuing a Successful Partnership
The Disney Treasure is the latest addition to Disney Cruise Line’s fleet and marks the fifth ship built by MEYER WERFT for the line. Their partnership began with the delivery of Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy in 2010 and 2012, respectively. Following the Disney Treasure, the Disney Wish, a sister ship, was handed over in 2022, while the Disney Destiny is currently under construction in Papenburg and is expected to launch in 2025. In an exciting development, Disney Cruise Line and MEYER WERFT announced plans for four additional ships to be delivered between 2027 and 2031.
MEYER WERFT’s Future Projects
To date, MEYER WERFT has contracted a total of 10 cruise ships, a research vessel, and four offshore converter platforms, all scheduled for delivery by 2031.
