MICTSI is a subsidiary of International Container Terminal Services Inc. which has been awarded a 25-year extension by PHIVIDEC Industrial Authority to continue the operation and management of the Mindanao Container Terminal, or MCT, up to 2058, reports ICTSI.
Infrastructure Upgrades
USD 100 Million Infrastructure Upgrade investment from MICTSI is set at more than USD 100 million in infrastructure upgrade that involves:
- Berth Extension: A 300-meter berth extension to admit larger vessels and open the possibility for new service lines.
- Acquisition of New Equipment: Modern machinery will be put in place, anticipating higher cargo volumes and increased usage.
- These measures are going to increase significantly the terminal’s annual handling capacity of 350,000 TEUs, as well as greatly improve trade operations.
Supporting Mindanao’s Growth
The expansion will allow for larger ships to berth and help grow Mindanao’s importers and exporters. Moreover, the project complements PHIVIDEC’s goal of bringing in more locators in the industrial estate to fuel the economy of the whole region.

Expressing optimism about the future of MCT, Aurelio C. Meanwhile, PHIVIDEC administrator and CEO Atty. Joseph Donato J. Bernedo emphasized the broader impact of the project: “Today’s signing ceremony reflects our commitment to growth and sustainability of PHIVIDEC-IA under this administration, and we will continue to grow with our other projects and initiatives that are lined up to benefit not only Northern Mindanao but also the entire country. Adis, and the members of our Board for their support in making our dream of expanding our MCT Port into a reality.”
