Greek shipping company Minerva has strengthened its position in the container shipping sector by acquiring the 1,781 TEU vessel Mindoro from German shipowner Briese Schiffahrt. Renamed Little Symphony, the vessel becomes Minerva’s seventh container ship and reflects the company’s ongoing investment in modern tonnage.
A Profitable Deal for Briese Schiffahrt
The vessel was originally ordered in 2021 for USD 26 million and has now been sold for USD 31.5 million, providing a strong return on investment for Briese Schiffahrt. This transaction highlights the continued demand for younger container vessels amid a shifting global fleet profile and increasing focus on newer, more efficient ships.
Minerva’s Growing and Modern Fleet
With this acquisition, Minerva’s container fleet now totals seven ships, all of which were built in 2022 or later. The newly renamed Little Symphony is still under charter to Hapag-Lloyd and will remain so until late 2025, ensuring continued revenue for Minerva. The deal underlines the company’s strategy to invest in newer assets that meet modern operational and environmental standards.
