Minister Sonowal Launches Maritime Digital Modules in India

Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, is set to unveil two innovative digital modules, the Maritime Single Window (MSW) and the Mercantile Maritime Department (MMD) on the Sagar Setu (NLP-M) platform, reports Logistics Insider.

About the launch

This launch, scheduled at Transport Bhawan in New Delhi, signifies a significant leap toward a more modern and efficient maritime landscape in India.

The MSW module facilitates the electronic submission, processing, and exchange of maritime-related information and documents among government authorities, port operators, and stakeholders in international maritime trade. Successfully tested with officials from the Directorate General of Shipping, shipping agents, trade associations, and major port officials, it promises enhanced efficiency.

Meanwhile, the MMD module on Sagar Setu (NLP-M) is a digital platform providing vessel detention and release status information. It aims to streamline the sharing of vessel survey information by the Mercantile Maritime Department on the Sagar Setu platform.
