On Thursday morning the FDNY performed a miraculous rescue from a six-car accident looked destined to end in death on the westbound Gowanus Expressway, Gowanus, Brooklyn. The accident left four injured and none got killed.
The rescue of a driver trapped inside a 3-by-3 space of his car, which otherwise was crushed in the accident, was miraculous.
Firefighters said they distracted the man by asking him about his job while they used the jaws of life to lift the dashboard off his legs.
At last check, the driver was in serious, but stable condition at Lutheran hospital. Three other people were also injured in the accident but they are expected to be okay. Still no word on what caused the accident was available.
