MISC Berhad, a leader in energy-related maritime services, has signed a Strategic Collaboration Agreement with Gentari Hydrogen Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of clean energy provider Gentari Sdn Bhd, to develop integrated shipping and floating solutions for clean ammonia. Scheduled for completion by 2027, the initiative seeks to revolutionize ammonia transportation while supporting global decarbonization efforts.

Strengthening the Ammonia Value Chain

The partnership combines MISC’s extensive expertise in maritime and floating solutions with Gentari’s clean hydrogen and ammonia production capabilities. Together, they aim to streamline the clean ammonia value chain, advancing innovative shipping solutions that enhance efficiency and reduce emissions.

MISC Berhad’s President and CEO, Mr. Zahid Osman, emphasized the transformative potential of the collaboration, stating, “The solutions we are developing with Gentari Hydrogen will be game-changing for the maritime industry, offering integrated approaches that enhance efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.”

Decarbonizing Hard-to-Abate Sectors

Gentari’s Chief Hydrogen Officer, Michèle Azalbert, highlighted the partnership’s significance in addressing critical infrastructure needs, noting that the initiative lays the foundation for ammonia to become a key energy carrier in the global transition toward sustainability.

Through their collaboration, MISC and Gentari aim to:

  • Develop robust infrastructure to meet the growing demand for clean ammonia transportation.
  • Offer comprehensive, end-to-end logistics and infrastructure solutions for clean ammonia, vital for sustainable power generation and industrial applications.
