A recent accident occurred at the Navantia Shipyard in Spain, where a mobile crane was knocked onto a barge by the offshore support vessel. This incident highlights the importance of safety protocols in shipyard operations, reports Safety4sea.

No Injuries

As reported, the incident occurred while the vessel was preparing to depart. Fortunately, no injuries were reported and the crane’s cab and base remained above the water after it toppled.

The vessel which had recently been fitted with a new 1600-ton crane, was leaving the shipyard when its boom accidentally caused the onshore mobile crane to fall onto a small barge.

According to the reports, after anchoring briefly, the vessel returned to the pier and was still docked at the shipyard as of 26 November.
