Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has joined the Blue Visby Consortium, which aims to reduce ships’ GHG emissions by developing a digital technology-based platform to optimize their arrival times at destination ports, reports Offshore Energy.
The Blue Visby Consortium
The Blue Visby solution works by optimizing and distributing arrival times of groups of vessels heading for the same destination port.
The optimal target arrival time is provided for each vessel while maintaining the scheduled arrival order. The system does this by analyzing the performance of each vessel, conditions such as congestion at the destination, and weather conditions.
The Blue Visby Consortium – which is led by software developer NAPA and law firm Stephenson Harwood – also aims to reduce CO2 emissions by recommending the optimum sailing speed of each vessel for maximum efficiency.
