MOL, TradeWaltz, And Suzuki Sign MOU For India Africa Cooperation

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), TradeWaltz Inc., and Suzuki Motor Corporation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) in Yokohama.

The agreement focuses on improving automobile trade between India and Africa through digitalization and sustainable practices, marking a significant step toward building a robust supply chain and promoting economic development in both regions.

Addressing Trade Challenges and Driving Digitalization

The three companies will work together to identify challenges in current automobile trade operations, such as the heavy reliance on manual processing of critical documents like bills of lading.

By exploring digital solutions, including TradeWaltz’s expertise in trade digitalization, the partnership aims to streamline trade processes, reduce inefficiencies, and enhance transparency. This effort aligns with the broader “Japan–India Cooperation Initiative for Sustainable Economic Development in Africa,” launched earlier in 2025, which emphasizes stronger trilateral collaboration.

Promoting Decarbonization and Sustainable Growth

Beyond trade process improvements, the MOU highlights the companies’ commitment to promoting decarbonization. MOL, which is already expanding automobile transport services from India to Africa, plans to integrate eco-friendly shipping practices.

Suzuki will continue supplying fuel-efficient and durable compact cars that cater to Africa’s growing middle class, while TradeWaltz contributes through digital platforms that support greener trade logistics. Together, these initiatives are expected to create a resilient and environmentally conscious supply chain.

The MOU signed by MOL, TradeWaltz, and Suzuki at TICAD 9 reflects a strong commitment to enhancing trade efficiency and sustainability between India and Africa.

By addressing operational challenges, promoting digitalization, and advancing decarbonization, the collaboration seeks to strengthen economic ties and foster mutual growth. This partnership not only supports the development of the automobile trade but also contributes to sustainable economic progress across two rapidly growing markets.
