Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) is advancing into the space sector with a focus on offshore rocket launch and recovery. As a first step towards commercialisation by around 2030, MOL plans to develop a dedicated recovery vessel. This will be followed by a feasibility study for an offshore launch vessel.

MOL-Tsuneishi Pact Aims for Rocket Vessel Future

By successfully building and deploying these vessels, MOL aims to support the creation of new space infrastructure that makes use of the ocean and enables next-generation space transport.

To achieve this goal, MOL is partnering with Innovative Space Carrier (ISC) and TSUNEISHI SOLUTIONS TOKYOBAY. Together, they will work to enable offshore rocket launches and recoveries, aiming to increase the frequency of launches.

Drawing on its extensive experience in shipping and offshore operations, MOL will continue to deliver new value to society and contribute to the growing space industry.
