European small-scale LNG player Molgas joined forces with Norwegian shipping firm UECC to complete its first LNG bunkering operation in Germany.

Bunkering operation

The group’s inaugural truck-to-ship bunkering operation took place on March 17 at the port of Cuxhaven in Germany.

Back in 2022, the Norway-based joint venture consisting of NYK and Wallenius Lines took delivery of this LNG-powered vessel from China’s China’s Jiangnan ShShipyard.

Battery backup

Besides LNG propulsion, it features a battery pack.

Prior to Belgium, the Madrid-based group, owned by French private equity firm InfraVia Capital Partners, wrapped up its first LNG bunkering operation in France.

Molgas also bought a 45 percent stake in Dutch LNG supplier Titan. This deal includes further follow-on rights from Molgas.
