Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL), led by President & CEO Takeshi Hashimoto, has announced that its operated car carrier ORCA ACE has been honored with the Best Quality Ship Award for fiscal year 2024 by the Japan Federation of Pilots’ Associations (JFPA).
Excellence in Safety and Environmental Sustainability
Established in 2003, the Japan Federation of Pilots’ Associations (JFPA) Best Quality Ship Award aims to promote port and ocean environmental protection through the safe operation of vessels. For fiscal year 2024, nine vessels were selected for this honor, including MOL’s car carrier ORCA ACE, chosen from among those requesting pilot operations across pilotage districts in Japan.
The award reflects a comprehensive evaluation by JFPA of the vessels’ efforts in maintaining nautical and boarding equipment, enforcing safety measures, and fostering effective collaboration between mariners and pilots. MOL-operated vessels have been frequent recipients of this recognition, reinforcing the company’s ongoing commitment to marine safety and environmental conservation as it advances toward its goal of becoming a world leader in safe, sustainable maritime operations.
