Muar Anchorage Designated for STS Operations and Vessel Services

Muar Port has officially been designated for Ship-To-Ship (STS) operations and various vessel husbandry activities, as reported by GAC Hot Port News on Monday, August 25. This designation includes a wide array of services such as bunkering, tank cleaning, deslopping, vessel maintenance, and other husbandry tasks. It also permits short-term anchorage for vessels that are waiting for further instructions, reports Manifold Times.

Port Dues Applicability

Vessels arriving at Muar anchorage will incur port dues. However, there are specific categories of vessels that are exempt from these charges.

Exemptions from Port Dues

The following types of vessels do not have to pay port dues:

  1. Vessels owned by the Government of Malaysia
  2. Naval vessels
  3. Vessels that come solely for medical assistance, to disembark sick or injured individuals, or those that need to take refuge due to damage or unforeseen circumstances
  4. Vessels with a gross tonnage of 20 or less
  5. Fishing vessels licensed under the Fisheries Act of 1985
  6. Vessels that are only stopping for the supply of bunkers, water, stores, provisions, or crew changes, as long as their stay doesn’t exceed 48 hours.
