Northern Lights JV DA and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (“K” LINE) have solidified their partnership by signing Bare Boat Charter and Time Charter contracts for managing the third CO2 ship in Northern Lights’ fleet. This collaboration aims to facilitate the transportation of liquefied CO2 from Northern Lights customers in Northwest Europe to their receiving terminal in Norway for safe and permanent storage.

Expanding Collaboration: Managing the CO2 Shipping Fleet

    • Through the London-based subsidiary “K” LINE LNG Shipping (UK) Ltd., “K” LINE will oversee the management of three CO2 ships, enhancing their role in the transportation of liquefied CO2 for the Northern Lights’ CCS project.

Commitment to Safety and Sustainability: Preparation and Training

    • “K” LINE is actively preparing for the operation of the third vessel, with a dedicated team in London working on operation manuals and commissioning protocols. A crew training program is also underway to ensure safe and reliable operations.

Pioneering Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Initiatives

      • Northern Lights is at the forefront of developing ship-based CO2 transport solutions to provide flexible access to industrial emitters across Europe. With the recent order of a fourth CO2 ship, they are poised to have the world’s largest dedicated CO2 shipping fleet, further solidifying their commitment to sustainable CO2 transport services.
