Navigator Discharges A Vintage LPG Carrier

With the sale of its 23-year-old LPG carrier, Happy Bird, Navigator Holdings, a New York-listed company, is getting rid of its older boats as reported by Splash 247.

The vessel, which was built in 1999 and has a capacity of 8,600 cubic metres, was sold for $6.1 million to an unnamed bidder earlier this month.

Navigator sold another historic LPG carrier, the 1999-built 6,400 cu m Happy Bride, renamed Gas Houston, to Turkish buyers for $4.75 million in October of last year.

Navigator owns and runs the largest fleet of small liquefied gas carriers in the world. Its fleet consists of 54 ships, 21 of which are capable of transporting ethylene and ethane. The company recorded a $47 million loss in the fourth quarter due to a $63.7 million vessel impairment.
