46

The Ningbo Containerised Freight Index (NCFI) for the week ending May 30, 2025, reported the following trends:

Route Highlights

  • Ningbo to Europe: The index declined by 7.94%, falling from 1036.38 to 954.04.
  • Ningbo to West Mediterranean: A decrease of 6.46% was recorded, dropping from 1548.79 to 1448.75.
  • Ningbo to East Mediterranean: The index saw a sharper drop of 15.98%, from 1390.42 to 1168.17.
  • Ningbo to Middle East: A moderate decline of 2.91% brought the index down from 634.14 to 615.71.

These changes reflect a general softening in container freight rates across key global shipping routes.

The NCFI is calculated using transactional data from logistics providers and includes various surcharges such as bunker adjustment, emergency bunker, currency adjustment, peak season, war risk, port congestion, and Suez Canal transit fees. Charges like terminal operations, security, customs, and inland transport are excluded.
