Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has delayed the launch of Norwegian Viva due to “global supply chain issues”, says an article published in Travel Weekly.
Ship’s homework
The ship’s first two voyages, scheduled for June 15 and June 24, 2023, have been cancelled by the cruise line.
The ship’s homeport in Lisbon would serve as the departure point for the Mediterranean voyages to Trieste, Civitavecchia, and Piraeus.
Passengers who are impacted will get a complete refund and a 10% discount on subsequent sailings booked by June 20, 2023.
Impacting industries
Norwegian Viva is NCL’s second Prima-class ship and will join Norwegian Prima, which is scheduled to launch this summer.
An NCL spokesperson said: “Due to the global supply chain issues impacting industries worldwide, the construction of Norwegian Viva has been delayed.”
“As a result, her June 15 and June 24, 2023 sailings have been cancelled. We appreciate the understanding of our guests and travel partners.”
Future sailing
“All impacted guests and travel partners have been contacted and will receive an automatic full refund returned to the original form of payment, as well as a 10% discount valid for any future sailing bookable from June 20, 2022 through to June 20, 2023.”
