Neda Installs Starlink Onboard 75% Of Its Fleet

Neda Maritime has become the latest company to join the trend of installing the Starlink system on its ships to improve connectivity onboard, reports Safety4sea.

As explained by Neda Maritime Starlink provides high-speed, low-latency internet and complements the company’s existing VSAT network. According to the company, currently, 75% of the fleet has been equipped with Starlink, and the feedback from seafarers has been overwhelmingly positive.

What is Starlink?

Developed by SpaceX, Starlink, is a satellite internet constellation using a low Earth orbit to provide high-speed internet access to remote and underserved areas globally.

“Enhancing crew welfare is a top priority for the company, exploring new technologies to improve life at sea. Communication with loved ones becomes easier and streaming services are accessible online,” said the company in a LinkedIn post

To remind, the 2023 SEAFiT Crew survey, unveiled the critical role of the internet in crew well-being. A staggering 91% of participants emphasized the essential requirement for top-notch internet access to sustain connections and communicate with their loved ones.
