Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) became the first Middle East company to join the Sea Cargo Charter, a global initiative working towards net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in shipping by 2050. EGA, the world’s largest premium aluminium producer, ships 22 million tonnes annually and aims for net-zero emissions in its supply chain by 2050. This move follows EGA’s 2022 agreement with “K” Line to develop marine decarbonization technologies. The company’s commitment sets a precedent for transparency and sustainability in the aluminium industry.
