NetTALK Maritime, a provider of marine communication intelligence solutions, has formed a strategic partnership with SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet network to advance communications at-sea.
NetTALK Maritime
- This alliance intends to redefine marine connection by providing cruise and commercial shipping clients throughout the world with high-speed, low-latency internet solutions.
- netTALK specializes in providing cutting-edge passenger and staff communication solutions to cruise lines and the marine industry as a whole.
- The intelligence solutions will serve as an account administrator under this strategic alliance, providing end-to-end solutions spanning from installation to network configuration and maintenance, as well as full account management services.
Starlink
Unlike other satellite internet services, which rely on geostationary satellites flying at a distance of 35,786 kilometers, Starlink runs a constellation of satellites much closer to Earth, at around 550 Kilometers, and uses a laser mesh network to provide genuinely worldwide coverage.
This closeness decreases latency dramatically, reducing it down to roughly 25 milliseconds compared to the industry average of around 600 milliseconds in older systems.

Garry Paxinos, CTO of netTALK Maritime, said: “Adding Starlink’s high-speed satellite connectivity to our products onboard ships of all sizes greatly enhances our product offering and significantly improves passenger and crew communication experiences.”
In September, Hapag-Lloyd announced its intention to implement SpaceX’s Starlink satellite broadband service throughout its entire fleet.
