China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) subsidiary Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) handed over a new Aframax product tanker to Greek shipping company Thenamaris on Thursday, January 2, reports Baird Maritime.

Thenamaris receives new Aframaxtanker

Named Seascout, the Malta-registered newbuild has an LOA of 250 metres, a beam of 44 metres, a gross tonnage of 62,716, a deadweight of 114,000, and a total cargo capacity of 130,000 cubic metres. The ship is the first in a new series of Aframax product tankers to be built by SWS for the same owner.

The vessel is fitted with energy-saving features such as vortex elimination fins and a power management system. The resulting emissions that are generated ensure that the vessel complies with IMO Tier III and EEDI Phase III requirements.

Power for the ship is provided by one MAN B&W 6G60ME-C Mk9.5 main engine, which is also fitted with an exhaust gas aftertreatment system to further reduce emissions.

Seascout replaces a similarly named, 2004-built tanker in the Thenamaris fleet.
