The European Union has introduced several new marine equipment items under the updated Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1533. These additions aim to enhance safety and environmental standards within the maritime industry, reads a DNV release.
Updated Testing Standards
The regulation also brings updated testing standards for existing marine equipment categories. These revisions ensure that equipment meets the latest safety and performance criteria, aligning with technological advancements and international maritime conventions.
Transition Period for Compliance
Manufacturers and suppliers have a transition period to comply with the new regulations. Equipment that complies with the previous standards can continue to be placed on the market and used on board EU ships until 23 September 2028, provided they meet the national type-approval requirements in force before the regulation’s effective date.
