New measures by Hapag Llyod to control emissions

Hapag –Llyod, the German shipping major has announced a new technological improvisation on its vessels to reduce emissions.

This includes fitting of new bulbous bows on 24 of its largest vessels by 2016.

Besides some vessels will also have an optimized five bladed propellers that are  lighter by 11 tonnes.

In addition to this, its two shipyards in Shanghai will conduct the retrofits on 13,200 and 8,750 TEU class ships.

These optimization efforts will not only control emissions but also save fuel.
