Freight rates out of Ningbo recorded moderate gains this week, led by robust demand on Middle East routes, according to the latest Ningbo Containerised Freight Index (NCFI) published by the Ningbo Shipping Exchange in partnership with the Baltic Exchange.
Weekly Performance
The composite index showed upward momentum across all four main routes, reflecting a gradual recovery in export volumes ahead of the year’s final quarter.
| Route | 24 Oct 2025 | 17 Oct 2025 | Weekly Change (%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ningbo – Europe | 822.30 | 803.21 | +2.38% |
| Ningbo – West Mediterranean | 989.35 | 965.13 | +2.51% |
| Ningbo – East Mediterranean | 719.37 | 716.67 | +0.38% |
| Ningbo – Middle East | 1,155.52 | 1,031.62 | +12.01% |
The Middle East service saw the largest weekly gain, climbing more than 12 percent as carriers reported tighter space and higher bookings toward Dammam and Dubai. Routes to Europe and the Mediterranean also strengthened modestly, signaling steady trade flows despite persistent geopolitical and cost pressures.
