The latest update from the Ningbo Shipping Exchange, as published by the Baltic Exchange, shows that container freight rates from Ningbo to major international destinations continued to decline in the week ending 29 August 2025. The Ningbo–Europe route saw the most significant drop, falling by 14.23% from the previous week to $929.56. This is a notable shift from last week’s $1,083.74, indicating either reduced demand or greater shipping capacity on the route to key European ports such as Hamburg and Rotterdam.

Routes to the Mediterranean showed more modest changes. Freight rates to the West Mediterranean, which includes ports like Barcelona, Valencia, and Genoa, decreased by 4.14%, landing at $1,183.37, down from $1,234.53. Meanwhile, the East Mediterranean route—covering Piraeus and Istanbul—remained mostly flat, dipping only 0.05% to $937.69. Similarly, rates to the Middle East markets such as Dubai and Dammam fell slightly by 0.12%, with the current rate at $1,186.38, just below last week’s $1,187.84.
