The Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, located in China’s Zhejiang Province, maintained its position as the world’s leading port by cargo throughput, exceeding 1.37 billion tons in 2024. This milestone marks the port’s 16th consecutive year at the top of global rankings.

Container Throughput Growth

  • The port handled 39.3 million TEUs in 2024, reflecting an 11% year-on-year increase—the highest growth in nearly seven years.
  • With over 300 container routes, including 250 international connections, the port links to 600 ports in more than 200 countries and regions.

Sea-Rail Intermodal Transportation

Ningbo-Zhoushan Port continues to expand its sea-rail intermodal services, strengthening its connectivity across China:

  • Serving 67 prefecture-level regions nationwide.
  • Handling over 1.8 million TEUs through this system in 2024.
