The project will involve the construction of two 200,000 tonnes-class container berths with a designed annual handling capacity of 2 million teu, which can accommodate 24,000 teu ultra-large containerships, reports Seatrade Maritime.
Construction scheduled
Construction is scheduled in October 2025 and the project is expected to put into operation in December 2027 and reach its target output in 2030.
In the latest August figures, Ningbo-Zhoushan port reported a container volume of 4.32 million teu, an increase of 13.2% year-on-year; cargo throughput is expected to reach 97.85m tons, growing 4.9% as well.
