Nor-Shipping 2025 awards align with the theme of #future-proof for the exhibition and event week, as top global innovators compete to present groundbreaking projects and solutions, reports Ajot.
These prestigious awards are significant, as they coincide with Nor-Shipping’s 60th anniversary. The winners will be selected by expert panels: Remi Erikson, Group President and CEO of DNV, will lead the Next Generation Ship Award jury, while Kjerstin Braathen, Group CEO of DNB, will oversee the Ocean Solutions Award selection.
‘Your Time to Shine’
The recipient of the Next Generation Ship Award will be announced during the Nor-Shipping Opening Ceremony at Oslo City Hall on June 2, with the Ocean Solutions Award presented the following day at the Ocean Leadership Conference.
“Next June, all eyes will be on Norway, and our winners will have a unique platform to showcase their ambition, dedication, and innovation to a global audience of influential decision-makers,” says Sidsel Norvik, Director of Nor-Shipping.
“Marking our anniversary, the upcoming event promises to be our largest and most impactful Nor-Shipping yet, heightening the attention around the awards. Ambitious businesses should take note—this is your time to shine by demonstrating how your projects and solutions can guide the industry towards a bright, prosperous, and sustainable future. A Unique Platform for Showcasing Excellence
The Next Generation Ship Award evaluates innovative newbuild, retrofit, and conversion projects, considering all ship types, regardless of size or segment. Entrants must impress an international jury by meeting key criteria, such as energy efficiency, technological innovation, versatility, safety, and environmental sustainability. Previous winners include Terntank for its 15,000 dwt Hybrid Tanker series in 2023, and Havila Voyages for the coastal cruise ferry Havila Capella in 2022.
The Ocean Solutions Award focuses on pioneering ideas, products, and concepts designed to tackle the maritime and ocean industries’ most urgent challenges. Applicants, who should be Nor-Shipping 2025 participants, must demonstrate that their solutions are either commercially available or nearing commercialization to ensure a significant industry impact. In 2023, AlfaWall Oceanbird won the award for its folding wing sail system, with the first retrofit scheduled for next year on Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s vessel Tirranna.
Setting the Agenda

Nor-Shipping 2025 will take place from June 2-6 across venues in Oslo and Lillestrøm, featuring a diverse program of exhibitions, awards, and events focused on knowledge sharing, networking, and social activities.
