NORDEN Expands Into Australian Port Logistics With Kimberley Metals Group Partnership

17

Danish shipping company NORDEN has signed its first port logistics contract in Australia, expanding its partnership with Kimberley Metals Group (KMG), a prominent iron ore mining developer.

This marks a significant milestone in NORDEN’s strategic journey to integrate freight and logistics services globally. The new project will take place at the Port of Wyndham, Western Australia, and aims to optimize KMG’s port-to-port iron ore supply chain.

Enhancing Operations at Wyndham Port with Integrated Logistics

The logistics operation in Wyndham will involve transshipping iron ore from the port onto barges and then onto ocean-going vessels. By offering both freight services and logistics expertise, NORDEN will streamline the movement of iron ore for KMG.

The agreement includes a fixed-term charter with an option to extend, and the first barge is set to launch by July 2025. This development strengthens NORDEN’s role not just as a transporter but as a supply chain partner.

Strategic Growth in the Australian Market

This is NORDEN’s first logistics project in Australia, opening the door for future expansion in the region. With this entry, the company is looking to scale its integrated logistics and freight solutions to meet rising demand from both existing and new customers. The move aligns with NORDEN’s strategy to deliver deeper, more customized services that meet evolving market requirements, particularly in resource-rich regions like Western Australia.

Building on a Proven Logistics Model

NORDEN began its port logistics journey in 2022 with a 10-year transshipment contract in Gabon for the manganese mining company Comilog. The success of that venture showcased the company’s capability to manage large-scale, infrastructure-intensive logistics projects, which it now aims to replicate in Australia.

By combining decades of maritime experience with flexible logistics solutions, NORDEN continues to build a global reputation as a key player in end-to-end supply chain optimization.
