The Nordic countries, in collaboration with the Danish Maritime Authority, signed a pivotal agreement on January 16, 2025, to improve their transport systems’ preparedness for handling crises such as natural disasters and major accidents. This agreement, the Nordic Transport Preparedness Cooperation (NTPC), focuses on enhancing the resilience of land, sea, and air transport.
Collaboration and Resources
The agreement will foster resource sharing, knowledge exchange, and the development of joint models and practices for transport systems. By collaborating, the countries aim to strengthen their infrastructure and ensure continuous transport services during critical situations.
Enhanced Crisis Management
The collaboration aims to create more robust transport systems, improving crisis management in the Nordic region. The partnership will support better coordination and the exchange of best practices among the transport authorities of Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland.
Denmark’s Role
The Danish Maritime Authority and the Danish Civil Aviation and Railway Authority represented Denmark in signing the agreement. The Danish Civil Aviation and Railway Authority will serve as the national coordinator for this initiative, ensuring the effective implementation of the NTPC agreement across the countries.
