Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has unveiled the Aqua Slidecoaster, the world’s first hybrid roller coaster and water slide, set to debut on their upcoming ship, Norwegian Aqua, in March 2025, reports Marine Insight.
World’s First Hybrid Slidecoaster
The Aqua Slidecoaster is a three-story attraction featuring dual slides and a magnetic lift system that propels two-person rafts at speeds up to 31 miles per hour. The ride’s track winds around the ship’s funnel and extends over the vessel’s sides, offering riders exhilarating views nearly 200 feet above the sea.
In addition to the Aqua Slidecoaster, Norwegian Aqua boasts other thrilling features, including The Drop, a 10-story free-fall slide, and Glow Court, a high-tech LED sports floor designed for immersive activities like basketball and football. The ship also offers mini-golf, virtual reality games, interactive darts, and retro arcade games.
Norwegian Aqua spans 1,056 feet in length and accommodates up to 3,571 guests. It features 1,760 cabins, with most offering sea views and balconies. The ship’s Haven area provides unparalleled luxury, including 123 suites, an expansive sundeck, an infinity pool overlooking the stern, and exclusive dining and lounge facilities.
The ship’s maiden voyage is scheduled for April 2025, departing from Port Canaveral, Florida, on seven-night Caribbean itineraries. Subsequent routes include voyages to Bermuda from New York and Eastern Caribbean trips from Miami.
With these innovative attractions and luxurious accommodations, Norwegian Aqua aims to redefine the cruise experience, offering guests a unique blend of relaxation and adventure at sea.
