NYK and ENEOS Ocean Corporation have announced the name of their newly formed shipping company: NYK Energy Ocean Corporation (NEO). The company will take over ENEOS Ocean’s non-crude-oil shipping business, with NYK acquiring 80% of its shares and making it a subsidiary.
Following the completion of regulatory approvals from the Japan Fair Trade Commission and other relevant authorities, the transaction is set to be finalized on April 1, 2025, when NEO will officially commence operations.
Leadership and Branding
Koichi Chikaraishi, a seasoned industry leader and former Senior Managing Corporate Officer of NYK, will serve as President of NEO.
NYK and ENEOS Ocean have also designed a new logo for the company, inspired by NYK’s twin-red-striped “nibiki” flag. The logo features a streamlined design symbolizing marine transport and reflects the responsibility and reliability of the shipping industry.
The establishment of NEO marks a significant step in strengthening Japan’s maritime transport sector, reinforcing NYK’s commitment to energy shipping and logistics innovation.
