NYK Focuses On Alternative Marine Fuels At SIBCON 2022

SIBCON 2022

Singapore International Bunkering Conference & Exhibition (SIBCON 2022) was held from October 4 to 7. NYK partook in a panel meeting on alternative marine fuels.

SIBCON is one of the world’s largest symposia on marine fuel supply which is hosted by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore. The theme for the 2022 conference was “driving the transformation of marine fuels”.

On the second day of the event, the deputy general manager of NYK’s Green Business Group Takahiro Rokuroda participated in a council discussion called “Alternatives Business Case: Ammonia and Hydrogen.” Focusing on a vast proportion of topics like, policies, roadblocks, technology assessment, investment, and business strategies for the logical application of ammonia and hydrogen fuel were reviewed.

Key points

In February 2021, NYK published the “NYK Group ESG Story,” which aspires to incorporate ESG into the company’s management policy and facilitate activities that bestow the success of the SDGs through business activities. 

Earlier in March, NYK released the updated “NYK Group ESG Story 2022,” which introduces initiatives for merging ESG into the Group’s management procedures defined in the NYK Group ESG Story.

NYK has launched its new “NYK GREEN EARTH” category to accentuate NYK’s ESG endeavours to build new value initiatives for low carbon and decarbonization through green businesses which include the growth of next-generation fuels such as ammonia and hydrogen.
