Seven fishermen set sail on September 30th in their fishing boat from Pangasinan.  On 2nd October, inclement weather conditions caused their boat to overturn and sink leaving the seven fishermen adrift midsea.  On the 3rd October, a 2700 TEU container ship NYK Joanna was on her way from Vungtau, Vietnam, to Tokyo, Japan. Crew from the ship spotted the fishermen drifting off the coast of Philippines.  All the seven fishermen were rescued within two hours of being spotted.  The rescued men disembarked from NYK Joanna at Tokyo on 7th October and were able to return home safely.
