A Wood-chip carrier of NYK Line rescued 14 people in distress off the Coast of Chile on 17th March 2016.
The vessel, Hokuetsu Ushaka, received an alert from a troubled raft when it was enroute from Japan to Chile on 16th March. On receiving the call, the vessel set a course for the given position.
By 17th March afternoon, 14 people were rescued by the crew members and provided first aid to the injured. All those rescued were handed over to the Chile coast guard at sea by March 19.
