Ocean Network Express (ONE) has achieved the highest growth in both capacity and market share within the intra-European shipping market over the last year, reports Alphaliner.
Modest Increase
Intra-European container service capacity saw a modest 3.9% increase (45,000 TEU) compared to February 2024. This growth resulted from deploying more, slightly smaller ships (686 ships averaging 1,732 TEU vs. 645 ships averaging 1,773 TEU).
Alphaliner’s market share calculations show ONE, a significant investor in the intra-European market, now ranks sixth among Europe’s largest mainline operators. ONE’s market share has grown from 1% (11,500 TEU) last year to 2.6% (over 30,000 TEU) currently. Two years ago, ONE was 19th; now it’s in the top 10 at ninth position.
ONE has more than doubled its intra-European fleet size to 17 ships in just one year and increased its average vessel size by over 350 TEU, from 1,450 TEU to 1,809 TEU.
Expanding Operations
ONE, headquartered in Singapore, has significantly expanded its intra-European operations, growing from three services a year ago to nine currently. They launched eight new services in just one year, adding 29,600 TEU of deployed capacity. Most notably, in late 2024, ONE introduced two new North Europe – East Med routes, operated jointly with Evergreen and Yang Ming. ONE contributes five vessels with a combined capacity of 16,000 TEU to these two loops.
