- Pan Ocean has recently placed over $550m in orders for three LNG carriers.
- Two of the carriers are expected to go on charter with Shell.
These orders mark its first major investment in LNG shipping, says an article published in Lloyd’s List.
Expanding business
The South Korean shipping line has also set its sights on LNG bunkering and small-scale LNG businesses. The company, which currently is still heavily focused on dry bulkers and oil tankers, hopes to expand into the burgeoning new LNG segment by building on experience gained from operating its sole LNG carrier. Dry bulk and oil shipping still make up The bulk of the shipping line’s business while LNG and heavy transport contributed only 1% of its revenue last year.
