Panama’s total bunker sales increased in March despite fewer vessels arriving for bunkers.
Changes in Panama bunker fuel sales from February to March:
- Total sales up 38,000 mt to 391,000 mt
- HSFO sales up 20,000 mt to 114,000 mt
- VLSFO sales up 15,000 mt to 234,000 mt
- LSMGO sales up 900 mt to 28,000 mt
- 0.50% MGO sales up 2,000 mt to 14,000 mt
Ships bunkering dropped
The number of ships bunkering in Panama’s ports dropped by five from February to 479 in March – the lowest since July 2020.
VLSFO sales grew
VLSFO sales grew by 7% on the month, combined 0.50% sulphur MGO and LSMGO sales also rose by 9% on the month, and HSFO sales rose by 21% to record their highest sales level since June 2022.
Bunker fuel availability was good in Panamanian ports last month. VLSFO and LSMGO lead times remained around 3-5 days, while HSFO had lead times of 6-7 days, a source said.
