November’s total represents a 12.3% month-on-month (m-o-m) increase on the 414,442 mt registered in October. This increase was also reflected in the number of vessels fuelled, which rose from 592 to a 2021 high of 645.

Sales of very low sulphur fuel oil (315,798 mt) exceeded the 300,000 mt mark for the first time since April.

RMG 380 cSt sales rose 3.7% m-o-m while low sulphur marine gasoil sales (39,065 mt) increased 2.8% on the month.

The only marine fuel grade to see a m-o-m decrease was marine gasoil, which fell from 24,814 mt in October to 11,591 mt in November.

Some 36 bunker barges were in operation last month, which represents the highest monthly figure since the 37 recorded in July.

Over the first 11 months of the year, some 4,529,899 mt of bunkers were sold in Panama – 4.3% more than the 4,333,398 mt sold during the same period in 2020.
