Panama Marine Fuel Sales Fall

Marine fuel sales in Panama fell from 403,235 metric tonnes (mt) in May to 358,827 mt in June, representing an 11% month-on-month decrease, says an article published in Bunker Post.

Last month was also the lowest monthly figure since the 337,035 mt of bunker sales recorded in July 2020, according to data published by the Panama Maritime Authority.

June month records 18% high

June’s total represented an 18% year-on-year increase compared with the 302,330 mt of marine fuel sales registered in the same month in 2020.

The 268,490 mt of very low sulfur fuel oil sales was the lowest monthly total of the year.

Likewise, sales of RMG 380 fuel oil fell from 79,093 mt in May to 48,843 mt in June, while marine gasoil sales decreased from 8,760 mt to 6,358 mt.

Low sulfur marine gasoil was the only fuel grade to register an m-o-m increase, rising from 31,017 mt in May to 35,136 mt in June.

Panamax fuel sales

During the first six month months of 2021, a total of 2,438,796 mt of bunker fuel was sold in Panama – 1.4% down on the 2,472,825 mt sold in the same period in 2020.

There were 516 bunker operations in June – the lowest monthly total of the year.
