Panama Maritime Authority Enhances Flagging Processes

104

The Panama Maritime Authority (AMP) is transforming its flagging processes by adding three new functionalities to its PKI digital platform. These enhancements allow special flagging procedures for Laid Up and Charter, as well as requests for extensions of Radio Licenses, to be completed entirely online from any consulate. This update marks a significant improvement for users of the Panama Ship Registry.

Efficiency and Flexibility in Ship Registry

Users can now experience greater efficiency, completing procedures more quickly and easily without needing in-person transactions. The platform offers flexibility by allowing extensions of Radio Licenses for 1, 2, or 3 months, catering to the specific needs of each vessel. By digitalizing these services, AMP ensures that all operations adhere to international standards.

Commitment to Innovation and Leadership

These improvements underscore AMP’s commitment to technological innovation and excellence in service, reinforcing its status as a world leader in ship registration. With a fleet of over 8,600 vessels and 247 million GT, Panama is the leading global ship registrar, accounting for 15% of the global fleet.

Legal Framework and Investment Security

Panama’s robust legal framework, particularly regarding naval mortgages, gives shipowners the confidence needed for their investments. The country also leads in registering naval mortgages, offering international banking the legal security necessary to support investments in the maritime sector.
