Bulk carrier FANEROMENI issued a distress signal in the morning Aug 19, in Arabian sea E of Socotra, reporting fire on board and requesting medical assistance.
- The disabled ship was adrift since around 1300 UTC Aug 19.
- No other ships were seen nearby.
FANEROMENI id en route from Abu Dhabi UAE to Port Elizabeth South Africa.
Damage and casualty reported
According to reports, the 2nd Engineer died and the 3rd Engineer was injured. Additional information on fire remains unknown.
