On September 6, a luxury cruise ship was flooded owing to a pipe burst just after disembarking from the Brisbane Port.

What happened?

The luxury cruise ship ‘Sun Princess’ suffered a pipe burst which caused water to spurt through ceilings and flood the decks of the ship.

The flooding occurred minutes after the cruise ship disembarked from the Brisbane Port and bound for Airlie Beach when the disaster struck.

Passengers panic:

Several passengers started panicking when the decks started flooding. A passenger has described the alarming situation and her desire to get off the ship.

She further added, ‘In a few minutes the cabin’s floor is absolutely saturated with about three, maybe two, inches of water,’ the report says.

In a dramatic footage released by a passenger on Facebook, passengers can be heard screaming on the ship.

The busted pipe is reported to have affected only deck 11 and all impacted passengers have been shifted to other areas of the ship.

Cabins submerged:

Since the water levels rose rapidly, the cabins on deck 11 were deemed uninhabitable by the captain.

Despite the drama, the ship proceeded towards its journey to Queensland’s Whitsunday Coast.
