The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has released its monthly piracy report for October 2024, according to Safety4sea.
Incident One
While underway, six perpetrators armed with knives entered the engine room and held the Chief Engineer (C/E), tying him with a rope. They stole his personal belongings, including a gold chain, tablet, and mobile phone, as well as the ship’s engine spares. The alarm was raised, and the crew was mustered to search onboard, but no perpetrators were found. All crew members were accounted for and uninjured. The master reported the incident to Singapore Vessel Traffic Information System (VTIS) West. A safety navigational broadcast was initiated, and the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) Maritime Security Task Force (MSTF) and Singapore Police Coast Guard (PCG) were notified. Information was shared with Indonesian authorities.

Approximately 2.5 nm northwest of Pulau Cula (Indonesia), in the eastbound lane of the Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS).
Incident Two
While underway, ten perpetrators armed with knives were sighted in the engine room. The alarm was raised, and the crew was mustered to search onboard. No perpetrators were found, but some engine spares were stolen. All crew members were accounted for and uninjured. The master reported the incident to Singapore VTIS West. A safety navigational broadcast was initiated, and the RSN MSTF and Singapore PCG were notified. Upon the ship’s arrival at Singapore Anchorage, the PCG searched onboard, but no perpetrators were found. Information about the incident was shared with Indonesian authorities.

Approximately 5.5 nm east of Pulau Karimun Kecil (Indonesia), in the eastbound lane of the TSS.
Incident Three
While underway, four armed robbers boarded the ship and stole engine spares. The duty oiler encountered the robbers in the engine room and raised the alarm. The robbers pointed guns at the crew before escaping. The master reported the incident to local authorities. PRC relayed the message to the Singapore PCG and the Indonesian Marine Police HQ.
