Anchored product tanker belonging to Scorpio Tankers, that arrived from Las Palmas, Spain was attacked by four armed robbers.
What happened?
On 17 September 2018, after midnight, the product tanker was boarded by four armed robbers while it was anchored at the Conakry Anchorage, Guinea. The master of the tanker raised a distress alarm, locked the accommodation with all crew mustered in the citadel.
How the pirates got access?
The armed robbers fired at the bridge windows and gained access into the accommodation. They ransacked all crew cabins and escaped with personal belongings of the crew members.
Assistance
A navy boat arrived at the location to provide assistance. All crew members were reported to be safe and the vessel remained at the Conakry Anchorage as of Wednesday.
