According to Dryad Global, Offshore Supply Ship TAMPEN, anchored near bulk carrier LYCAVITOS, was attacked and boarded, by at 3 armed persons, says an article published in Maritime Bulletin.
Repel the attack
Updates indicate that the vessel was boarded by 3 armed men. Upon boarding it is understood that the crew engaged with the pirates in a bid to repel the attack. Two crew members are confirmed to have sustained injuries and are understood to be receiving treatment in hospital. At least one individual is understood to have sustained a gunshot wound.
One member of the crew is understood to be missing at this time. The missing crew member is presumed to have been kidnapped.
Bulk carrier LYCAVITOS was reportedly, attacked by pirates early in the morning Sep 5. The ship is anchored at Owendo anchorage, Gabon, Gulf of Guinea. No other information available, ship’s ID is not yet confirmed. LYCAVITOS arrived at Owendo (Libreville) anchorage on Sep 4 from Warri, Nigeria.
