Pirates Fire on LNG Carrier

On November 6, an LNG tanker was attacked by pirates who proceeded to chase and fire at the tanker.

What happened?

The LNG tanker was proceeding towards Bight of Bonny, Nigeria when it was attacked by pirates. The Pirates proceeded to chase the ship and opened fire on the ship.

Crew safe

The crew members raised an emergency alarm and the crew mustered in the citadel and proceeded to activate the SASS alert.

The pirates approached the vessel several times but due to the increased speed and evasive maneuvers, the pirates were unsuccessful and later aborted the attack. Vessel and crew members were reported to be safe.

Investigation launched

The Nigerian navy was notified about the incident and they have launched a lookout for the pirates.
