P&O Maritime Logistics (POML), a subsidiary of DP World, has successfully completed the acquisition of a controlling stake in NovaAlgoma Cement Carriers (NACC), the global leader in pneumatic cement carrier operations. With all regulatory approvals secured, the transaction is now fully concluded, marking a strategic expansion for DP World into the growing cement logistics sector.
Strengthening DP World’s Supply Chain and Bulk Cargo Capabilities
This acquisition significantly enhances DP World’s footprint in the breakbulk and dry-bulk markets, particularly within infrastructure-related cargo movements. By integrating cement logistics into its portfolio, DP World is reinforcing its end-to-end supply chain capabilities allowing it to offer comprehensive logistics solutions to cargo owners in key global markets. The move aligns with DP World’s long-term strategy to diversify its logistics services and tap into sectors driving industrial and urban development.
NACC’s Expertise and Global Reach
Founded in 2016 as a joint venture between Nova Marine Holding and Algoma Central Corporation, NACC has established itself as a leader in the global transportation of dry-bulk commodities primarily cement. The company operates a fleet of modern pneumatic vessels serving major infrastructure hubs across North America, Europe, the Mediterranean, South Asia, and the Caribbean.
Under the agreement, Nova Marine Holding SA (Switzerland) and Algoma Central Corporation (Canada) will retain minority stakes, while NACC’s operational leadership continues under the strategic oversight of P&O Maritime Logistics. The transaction, however, excludes NACC’s joint venture interests in Northern Europe, Indonesia, and Greece.
The acquisition of NovaAlgoma Cement Carriers represents a major milestone for P&O Maritime Logistics and DP World. By expanding into cement transportation and infrastructure logistics, the group is not only diversifying its portfolio but also strengthening its global presence in key industrial supply chains. This move positions DP World to better serve the increasing demand for sustainable, integrated logistics solutions worldwide.
