The abandoned cargo vessel Kathryn Spirit in Lac Saint Louis is in danger of tipping over as a drop in the water levels has caused the ship to lean to one side and is a major cause for concern.
The Canadian coast guard claims that the situation has stabilised after the vessel has been tightly held by additional steel cables. However, the crew will monitor it closely over the next few days to avoid mishaps.
A worrying factor in this entire episode is that the vessel is said to contain water contaminated by crude oil. Officials worry that this could enter the water and pollute it but fortunately, they have not picked up any signs of contamination yet.
