The Port of Tokyo witnessed a decrease of 10.3% in foreign-trade container handling, with a total of 352,680 TEUs.
According to JIFFA, loaded export containers amounted to 88,744 TEUs (down 4.8%), and empty export containers were 82,048 TEUs (down 11.7%).
Also, containers transported to and from other domestic ports recorded 20,529 TEUs for loaded containers (down 4.8%) and 22,086 TEUs for empties (down 7.9%).
Domestic containers
In terms of domestic containers, 190,478 TEUs were loaded (down 2.4%), and 218,538 TEUs were unloaded (down 2.4%). Overall, laden containers amounted to 2.71 million TEUs (down 6.9%), and empty containers totalled 1.07 million TEUs (down 11%).
